Our organization is based in the Bıçakçı Neighborhood of Şanlıurfa, which is the historical area in the center of the city. This neighborhood was one of the poorest areas of the city. It has been going through gentrification process in the past couple of years, which drives away those who lived in properties that interest investors.
As a result of the earthquake of February 2023, the remaining families who quite literally have nowhere else to go are affected. Their means of income, which relies on domestic and international tourism is also looking dire. Our aim is to help 40 families of Syrian and local origin in the neighborhood. We hope to collect 2.000 USD that will be divided into food baskets, as well as direct financial aid. We will work with the local governor to identify the most vulnerable families.
